El Prat Airport (BCN)

El Prat is the name of Barcelona Airport which is located 12 km (7 miles) south-west of the city of Barcelona in the area of El Prat del Llobregat.

Barcelona airport (Aeropuerto de Barcelona) was built in 1992 to complement the rest of thr city of Barcelona for the Olympic Games. The airport has three terminals A, B and C.

Terminal A and B are for international flights and Terminal C for flights to Madrid and other Spanish destinations. There are over 40 daily flights to Madrid via the air shuttle service Pont Aeri (Air Bridge) and tickets can be purchased from machines. Flight journey time is 50 mins.

Airport Terminals

If you're not sure which terminal you're leaving from there are three large glass covered guides directly outside the terminals so you can see exactly where to go.

If you're in a hurry, the airport bus drivers will often let you know which terminal to go to.

Airport Bus

The blue shuttle bus runs every six minutes during the day and is one of the best ways to get to and from the airport and there's also a nightbus (NITBUS).

Barcelona Airport Train

Line 10 links the airport with Sants and França stations. The train stops at the Airport - El Prat de Llobregat and then stops at the following stations - Bellvitge, Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gracia (this stop is a 10 minute walk from Plaça Catalunya in the center of town). The last stop is Estació de França which is where you get off if you're staying in the El Born. The journey takes 32 minutes and trains come every 30 minutes.

Airport Taxi

Fares vary and depend on the time of day you arrive. For a journey into the center of Barcelona the fare will normally be around 20-24 euros. If it's after 9.00pm then you'll be charged a little extra. To avoid any confusion, it's always a good idea to ask the driver before you start, how much the journey will be. The airport is full of lovely shops and places to eat and access to internet services can be found on the ground floor of Terminals A and B.

The many airport shops include Accessorize, Beauty Shop, Bulgari, Carolina Herrera, Big Apple, Bill Bentley, Bitburguer Segafredo, Burberry and many, many more. Places to eat include Buffet Catalunya, Bier Garden, Burger King, Café Café, Café Select, Cafetería Colombia, Tap Tap Tapas and many more.
