Gaudi Architecture in Barcelona
Barcelona Architecture is known the world over for the Catalan modernisme architecture
developed between 1885 and 1950 in Barcelona.

Many of the buildings were designed by architects such as
Antoni Gaudi, Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Josep Puig i
Cadafalch who designed the Casa Ametller in Passeig de Gràcia. Barcelona has many buildings which are World Heritage
Sites and they are visited by millions of visitors to Barcelona every year.
Amongst the most
popular are those in the Passeig de Gràcia of the Eixample district such as Casa Milà (La Pedrera) and Casa
Batlló.
Nearby is Gaudi's unfinished and breath-takingly beautiful Sagrada Familia and not far away is his famous and much visited modernist
playground Parc Guell.
The location is lovely with woodland walks which in Gaudi's time were intended as the playground of the rich but which are now enjoyed by all.
Antoni Gaudi's buildings are top Barcelona attractions and there are many tours for you to discover and enjoy his amazing genius.
This lovely cathedral towers over the old quarter of Barcelona and can be found in the medieval Barcelona Gothic Quarter (Barri
Gòtic).
Barcelona Catedral (The Cathedral of Santa Eulalia) dates back to the 14th century and is where Santa Eulàlia, co-patron saint of Barcelona, is buried in the crypt beneath the high altar.

Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar
In the nearby area of La Ribera (now known as El Born) is the lovely Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar is located.
The church is a beautiful example
of Barcelona architecture and specifically Catalan Gothic architecture>
It is still used for services and is also a very popular church for weddings.
It's also a great place to relax, enjoy a drink and enjoy the the lovely surroundings.
Palau de la Musica Catalana (Palace of Catalan Music) is located on the Carrer de Sant Francesc de Paula just off the Via Laeitana.
The building was designed by the Catalan modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and commissioned by Orfeó Català for the Orfeó Català (Catalan Choir) and built in 1908.
There are tours of the Palau de la Musica and many concerts are held here throughout the year.

The famous buildings of Gaudi can also be visited with the popular
Barcelona Cultural Tours.
Gaudi Walking Tours begin along Paseo de Gracia to see Gaudi's famous apartment buildings, Casa Batllo and La Pedrera. It's then on to Parc Guell,
La Sagrada Familia and then a visit to Barcelona's Monumental Bull Ring and the famous Cathedral Sta Maria del Mar. The tour ends near the Picasso Museum.
