Barcelona Cable Car ~ Air ferry

The  cable car linking the Tower of Sant Sebasti (Sant Sebasti beach) with the Jaume I Tower (World Trade Center) and Hotel Miramar is officially called ‘Transbordador Aeri del Port’.

The port cable car crosses Barcelona port with two small red and white cabins and runs every 10 – 15 minutes , across Port Vell marina connecting Barceloneta beach and Montjuic.

Port Cable Car Stations

Montjuic hill station is located in front of the Hotel Miramar on Montjuic and Jaume I station is on a tower in front of the World Trade Center and the Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel GL.

torre de alta marSant Sebastia station is in a tower on San Sebastia beach (near Barceloneta beach) and on the top floor is the lovely Torre de Alta Mar Restaurant ~ (See Barcelona Restaurants).

Note: The port cable car (Transbordador Aeri del Port)  is often referred to as  the ‘Teleferico de Montjuic’ – not to be confused with the other cable car on Montjuic  (see below) which is known by this name.

Barcelona’s Montjuïc Cable Car ~ Teleferic

There are 3 stations ~ Parc Montjuic, Mirador and Castell.

Departure point :  Parc de Montjuïc Station,  Av. Miramar s/n  –  (Opposite the Montjuïc Municipal Swimming Pool).

Getting there:

  • On the Montjuïc Funicular, from Paral·lel metro station (L2 and L3),
  • Take the Barcelona Bus Turístic via the Telefèric de Montjuic stop on the Red Route
  • Take bus numbers 50, 55 and 193.

Note: If you’ve purchased tickets for the cable car for more than 1 person, you must arrive at the cable car station together and use the service at the same time.

Funicular de MontjuïcIf you don’t feel like walking down you can take the Funicular Railway to Paral·lel metro stop which is also part of the metro network.

Fares – Same as Metro. Tickets and conditions are the same for both transports.  The Funicular is integrated in the metro network and connection between both is at the metro station Paral·lel (Lines 2 and 3) all with the same ticket.  Access from surface through ticket vending machines at the metro station Paral·lel.
