Barcelona city center can be very expensive but there are many excellent 2 and 3 star cheap hotels which are affordable and very centrally located. There are many great hotels in the center of town in the Eixample district which is close to Gaudi's famous buildings and also just a few minutes from La Rambla and Placa Catalunya in the center of town.

We stayed at the Jazz Hotel Barcelona which is one of the most popular hotels in town. Excellent and affordable accommodation and the icing on the cake is the swimming pool on the roof terrace.

Dont' forget! If you book early you can be sure of a good deal. Leave it to the last minute and the price could be more expensive so it's definitely worth booking your hotel early.

Cheap hotels in Barcelona - 2 Star Montjuic Hotels

Rambla Hotels

There are many hotels either side of La Rambla which is a 2 km long avenue stretching from Placa Catalunya to Barceloneta and the waterfront. On either side of this famous street are the popular areas of the old city.

Barri Gòtic Hotels

Many of Gaudi's famous buildings are located in the Golden Square (Quadrat d'Or) which is in the Eixample district on the other side of Plaça Catalunya. The 1992 Olympic Games were held on Montjuïc and there are many lovely hotels in this area. The Font Màgica (magic fountain) is located below Palau Nacional and nearby is Gran Via Avenue, Plaça Espanya and Barcelona Trade Fair Centre and Congress Palace. Just five minutes walk away is the port, historical centre and Barcelona's shopping district.

Beach Hotels

You can find many excellent and affordable cheap hotels in Barcelona on the waterfront and there are also many very expensive and luxurious hotels in this area. Port Olimpic is trendy, with a modern waterfront full of shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Port Vell is another trendy complex full of yachts, sailing boats, restaurants and bars so a great place to stay if you want to have fun.
