Hotels in Barcelona
When choosing hotels in Barcelona it's important to know exactly what sort of area you want to stay in so get an idea of where they're located before you book. Check the
map to see where the areas are located.
If you want to be in the center then the best place to stay is in areas close to the Placa Catalunya which is in the heart of the city. This famous square is surrounded by lovely shops and hotels and is between the old part of the city (ciutat vella) and the Eixample district.
There are many hotels either side of La Rambla which is a 2 km long avenue stretching from Placa Catalunya to the sea. On either side of this famous street are areas of the old city with many popular places to stay.
On the left going down to the waterfront are hotels in the Gothic Quarter, El Born and Parc del la Ciutatvella and on the right is Raval and the famous La Bouqueria market.
There are many lovel hotels in the Eixample district of Barcelona on the other side of Placa Catalunya. There are two main areas the left and right (Esquera and Dreta) with the area on the right the most upmarket and full of shops, restuarants, bars and clubs and also many of Gaudi's famous buildings.
Further on is the district of Gracia which is popular with bohemians and tourists. There are many lovely squares, bars and cafes and a very popular cinema complex called the Verdi cinemas.
