Palau de la Musica
The beautiful Palau de la Musica Catalana (Palace of Catalan Music) is situated in the old city in between the lovely town houses and narrow cobbled streets just off the Via Laeitana.
It was designed by the Catalan modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and commissioned by Orfeó Català for the Orfeó Català (Catalan Choir) and built in 1908.
The Palau is funded by popular donations and today hosts numerous concerts of all styles and cultural, social, business events, congresses, conferences, exhibitions and more.
In 1997 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The photo on the left shows St George with the people holding the Catalan flag and represents the unique attachment and love the people of Barcelona have for the concert hall.
The Palau has guided tours and you can enjoy coffee or lunch in the restaurant inside the Palau or on the terrace outside.
