Placa Catalunya - Barcelona Spain
Placa Catalunya (Catalunya Square) is at the heart of the city of Barcelona and the most central point in town. It's a great place to meet as it's located between the
Eixample district and the Old City at the top of
La Rambla Barcelona.
There are buses, trains the metro and tour buses and in the very centre of the square is the Tourist Information Office (directly opposite the popular El Corte Inglés).
In front of the the store is a the aerobus (airport bus) stop.
El Corte Inglés (English Cut) has 9 floors with a cafe/restaurant on the top floor.
On the opposite side of the square is a very large Habitat and south of Plaça Catalunya in Portal de l'Angel is another El Corte Inglés and even more wonderful shops and restaurants.
El Triangle shopping center is on the corner of the square and Pelayo Street and inside are stores such as Fnac (electrical and music) and Foot Locker. Nearby are more shops and restaurants in Carrer de la Portaferrissa (next to Las Ramblas).
If you're a football fan this is where the official fc Barcelona FC Botiga (Official Store) is located.
For all those who don't know this is the most famous European football team in the world and locally known as Barça.
There are many restaurants and cafes surounding the square such as Hard Rock Café and the famous Café Zurich which has a great terrace where you can enjoy a drink in this very trendy area of Barcelona.
