Things to do in Barcelona
Barcelona is oozing history, culture & the arts and overflowing with restaurants, bars and clubs. The city is pulsating with life and there's a sense of magic about this really lovely city that you will never tire of. Gothic Quarter & El Born A must to visit is the the Gothic Quarter full of narrow winding streets and the stunning Barcelona Cathedral. Nearby is the trendy area of El Born with many designer shops, restaurants and bars and just a few minutes away is the waterfront and lovely city beach of Barceloneta. Close by is the beautiful city park where you can relax and unwind and restore your batteries. If you feel like visiting the zoo it's also in the park.
Take a trip on one of the Golondrinas then stroll along the exciting waterfront and enjoy a meal at one of the many lovely restaurants at Port Vell. Cross over the wooden footbridge of Rambla de Mar to the Maremagnum complex on the Moll de Espanya. From here you can take the cable car to Montjuïc which is one of Barcelona's largest parks and where the 1992 Olympic Games were held. A must to see is the Font Màgica (magic fountai)!
No visit to Barcelona is complete without a visit to La Sagrada Familia which is one of Gaudí's most famous works in the Eixample district of Barcelona. Nearby in the Passeig de Gracia are other famous Gaudí buildings such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. This is also one of the most up-market areas for shopping! Just a bus ride away is Gaudí's Park Guell and a little further on brings you to Tibidabo.
If you're lucky enought to be in Barcelona when fc Barcelona play at Camp Nou (largest stadium in Europe) you won't be disappointed. If you can't get tickets, take a tour of the famous stadium and visit the museum.
There are so many things to do in Barcelona, for example there are bus tours of the city and a short journey from the city are seaside resorts such as Sitges to visit. This is a very famous wine region of Spain and famous for its cava and cava celebrations. About an hour's drive inland is the stunning monastery at Montserrat and there are many beautiful beaches to visit outside Barcelona on the popular Costa Brava. You can also take a ferry to one of the nearby Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.
